A must try simple and healthy snack recipe, which can also be served for Breakfast on weekends. Black gram is healthy in all its forms and for all age groups and to make it healthier, you can shallow fry the kebabs on a non-stick pan / tawa.
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
Kala Chana (boiled) - 1 Cup
Potatoes (boiled) - 2
Breadcrumbs - 3 - 4 tbs
Small onion - 1
Ginger (grated) – 1 tbsp.
Coriander leaves (chopped) – 1tbsp
Green Chillies - 2
Red Chilly powder – ¼ tbsp.
Coriander powder 1 tbsp.
Garam Masala - 1 tbsp.
Salt – To taste
Oil (for frying) - 1tbsp.
Let's start
· Mash Chana and potatoes in a bowl, using a masher
· Finely chop onion, coriander and green chilies
· Now add onion, green chilies, coriander, ginger, bread crumbs, salt and spices to the chana - potato mix and knead into a dough
· Put oil in a pan/karahi and heat it
· While the oil is heating, grease your palms with little oil and taking small portions from the dough, shape the kebabs and keep on a plate.
· Check the temperature of the oil by putting a small portion of the mix into it, if it rises then bring the flame to medium high
· Now put the kebabs into the oil one by one, carefully
· Fry them deep brown and remove on a tissue to soak the excess oil
· Serve hot with coriander / mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
Note : To make bread crumbs, roughly break 3 - 4 bread slices into a blender jar and blend for 10 seconds.
You can also use bread sides that we remove while making sandwiches
