Split Moong Chaat

A quick to make recipe that can serve as a healthy and enjoyable breakfast. It is so simple to make that there is no scope for a goof-up and anyone young or old can prepare it.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes


Ingredients


Split Moong dal (Moong Chhilka): 1 Cup

Ginger (grated): 1inch piece

Lemon juice (optional): 1-2 tsp

Asafetida (hing): 1/4 tsp

Haldi powder : 1/2 tsp

Red chilly powder: 1/2 tsp

Coriander powder: 2 tsp

Salt: 1 tsp

Zeera : 1/2 tsp

Garam Masala: 1/2 tsp


For Serving


Coriander leaves: 2 tbs

Onion: 1 ( finely chopped )

Tomato: 1 (finely chopped )

Cucumber : 1 small ( chopped in small pieces )

Bhujia/Sev: 1/2 Cup



Let's start!


· Heat 2 tbs desi ghee in a pressure cooker

· Add grated ginger and stir till it changes colour

· Add zeera and let splutter

· Add hing, haldi, coriander powder and red chilly powder and stir

· Add washed and drained dal and mix

· Add salt and garam Masala powder and stir fry on high flame for a minute

· Add 1.5 cups of water and close the pressure cooker lid

· Cook till 1 whistle and switch off the flame

· Open the lid and check if it is dry and cooked

· Add lemon juice and mix gently.


To Serve


· Remove the dal on a Serving dish

· Top it up with finely chopped onion, tomato, cucumber, coriander leaves and Sev

. Serve with green Chutney.
